Painter
Hewes Marine Company, Inc. is seeking an experienced Painter to apply single stage coatings in a production environment. This position will support the paint department and requires work in a paint booth for painting boats and parts. It is fast-paced and requires someone that is production oriented. This position is hourly and will report to the Production Supervisor’s team.

Position Roles and Responsibilities:

• Measure, mix, and track coatings based on specific recipes according to customer requirements.
• Clean and prepare surfaces for application of 3 step single stage coating.
• Apply coatings in a production environment during 20-minute cycles using a HPLV paint system.
• Properly clean and maintain equipment, mixing room, and booth following each step.
• Monitor booth operation and escalate concerns immediately.
• Follow all safety requirements, including proper PPE usage and proper handling of materials.
• Adjust painting techniques based on complex geometry, surfaces, and colors.
• Touch up, sand, buff, and polish finished surfaces as needed.
• Active communicator that thrives in a team atmosphere.
• Safety and quality minded while working in a production environment.
• Attention to detail including proper mixing of product, viscosity checks, and thickness checks.
• Coating in a production environment with continuous flow.
• Provide technical guidance for production, sales, and warranty for coating related questions or failures.
• Ability to wear PPE including fresh air hoods, gloves, hearing protection, and overalls.

Education/Experience:

• High School diploma or equivalent
• 2 years of experience spraying prepared surfaces with a single stage coating.
• Technical auto body training desirable
• Paint Experience in the marine, auto, or industrial coatings.

Compensation:

• This position is a full-time, hourly position within Hewes Marine Company
• Work schedule Monday – Friday
• Overtime and weekends on an as needed basis
• Wage range $22.50 to $27.50 per hour
